CTS REISEN // Website relaunch
New website for CTS Reisen
Fully covered: sitegeist relaunches a responsive website with premium content, outstanding design, and cutting-edge technology.

The project
CTS is one of Germany's leading specialist tour operators for school trips and group tours for groups of 10 people or more, with which more than 5,700 groups and around 185,000 participants travel every year.
The tour operator's new website was designed to reflect this success online. In addition to the increasing access figures of the target group via mobile devices, the primary aim was to sharpen the approach to the target group and optimize the user experience.
Another important aspect in the design of the new website was the targeted guidance of the heterogeneous target groups for class, group and university trips.
The extensive travel offer with various filter and selection options was rounded off with helpful information for travel preparation and company-specific information such as job offers and the press area.
The mobile and content first approach that was pursued as part of the project implementation meant, among other things, that the mobile navigation was already used on the desktop view. On the one hand, this offers performance advantages and, on the other, a clear line in user guidance across all devices. Good performance was also taken into account when optimizing images and delivering them to the relevant devices as required(responsive images).
High-resolution Retina displays, for example, are supplied with high-quality images if the connection allows. By contrast, devices with lower resolutions or poor connections are provided with more highly compressed images with smaller file sizes. This approach allows intelligent use of the image material and optimal delivery for all end devices.
Performance optimization
Thanks to the use of various performance optimization mechanisms, we were able to achieve above-average loading times.
In the development of JavaScript and CSS, the use of frameworks was consistently avoided in order to ensure optimized performance.
In addition, the http 2 protocol, data compression, the use of a Redis cache and cache headers were used on the server side.
These measures in combination with the Frontendoptimizations used, such as the compression of HTML, JavaScript and CSS, the use of the Neos module "Asynchronous Image Optimization" and the development of the website based on the pioneering Responsive Images approach have led to the impressive result.
Project expansion over the years
Over time, we have created additional features for CTS and continuously developed the website. For example, we have further improved performance with the help of lazy loading and Google Core Web Vitals and optimized the forms over the years. In addition, customers no longer only receive a quote request as a PDF, but can also display it directly on the web via a link.
