Find the right Content-Management-System

There is one topic that regularly occupies us at sitegeist: Which system is actually the right one for our customers? There is rarely a quick answer to this question.

So it's complicated.

And yet there are a few guidelines that we use to make the system decision together with our customers:

Does the system fit the customer's way of thinking and working?

We usually find this out during a customer workshop in which we demonstrate various alternatives and emphasize the respective advantages. But a lot also has to do with our many years of experience in contact with customers. Our experienced colleagues often already have a feel for which system will best suit the customer's mindset.

How should the website develop after the launch?

Are regular content changes planned at all? And if so, who makes them? Which content management features are really used and which are perhaps superfluous in the project or even stand in the way of the project objective? All these questions have an influence on which technical solution we propose to the customer.

Are there special feature requirements for which one of the systems is better suited?

Comparison sites, such as that of our partner Bluepick, can provide initial guidance when choosing CMS.

There, the common Content-Management-Systeme are compared using a comparison matrix. The large number of systems available on the market can thus be easily compared with your own needs and requirements. In addition to detailed feature comparisons, interoperability with other web services and licensing (open source vs. commercial) are also discussed. All in all, Bluepick provides a solid decision-making basis for standard cases.

However, no tool can replace comprehensive advice, for example in a workshop, especially when it comes to individual solutions. In addition to technical feasibility, the development time and therefore the project budget also play a major role in everyday project work. And the user experience for editors should not be ignored either.

sitegeist will be happy to help you choose the right Content-Management-Systemfor your application. We look forward to hearing from you.
