The Client
HITADO, a leading provider of patient-oriented immediate diagnostics, has relied on the expertise of sitegeist as an agile and creative partner in consulting, design and implementation for all of its comprehensive e-commerce activities since 2014.
After years of using Shopware 5 and continuously developing the platform, HITADO decided to migrate to Shopware 6 in order to benefit from the modern functions and improved performance of the new system.
In the course of the version update, important further developments were to be carried out in parallel.
Project Goals
- Migration from Shopware 5 to Shopware 6 without interrupting operations.
- Integration and further development of existing plugins and individual functions.
- Improvement of the user experience (UX) and user interface (UI) for an all-round perfect shopping experience.
- Ensuring complete self-direction in the maintenance and administration of the store.
- Introducing new features for long-term customer loyalty and further increasing customer satisfaction.

Our Approach
1. Analysis and planning
- Detailed analysis of the existing Shopware 5 installation, the plugins used and individual customizations.
- Creation of a migration plan taking into account data transfer, customizations and test scenarios.
- Organization and implementation of project meetings on required API connections
2. Technical migration
- Implementation of the data migration including all product and customer data, orders and individual settings.
- Development and customization of plugins for Shopware 6 to maintain existing functions and integrate new features
3. Design and UX/UI optimization
- Organization and implementation of UX/UI workshops
- Revision of the existing design and adaptation to the new possibilities of Shopware 6
- Implementation of a modern and user-friendly UX/UI design that best meets the needs of the B2B target group
- Integration of specific HITADO requests on all store pages and also in Backend.
4. Functional enhancements
- Implementation of a structured navigation menu
- Introduction of an improved presentation of products and their important product information.
- Integration of a special activation process using DocCheck to assign new customers to selected specialist groups.
- Integration of a legally compliant system for generating Newsletter subscribers.
- Further development of the attractive bonus points system for long-term customer loyalty.
5. Maintenance and administration
- Adaptation of Shopware-Backends for intuitive operation by HITADO.
6. Tests and launch
- Comprehensive testing of all functions and processes in the new Shopware 6 environment.
- Training of HITADO employees in the use of the new system and the new possibilities.
- Go-live of the new store without interrupting ongoing operations.

The new HITADO shop already benefits from enhanced UX/UI and significantly improved performance. We’re proud of the successful migration and excited for the platform’s continuous development.

Together with HITADO's internal IT department and external service providers, sitegeist has integrated and expanded suitable interfaces to the ERP solution SAGE. This ensures data quality and a smooth exchange of article, customer and price information with Shopware.
