About the Client

Weser-Elbe Sparkasse (WESPA for short) is a savings bank under public law and part of the Sparkassen-Finanzgruppe (Savings Banks Finance Group) based in Bremerhaven. Its business area comprises the city of Bremerhaven and the district of Cuxhaven. Weser-Elbe-Sparkasse operates around 40 branches/self-service locations and employs over 800 people.

The Project

In collaboration with tenerity, sitegeist began implementing the project in July 2019. sitegeist was commissioned to design and implement the "Giro X-tra" value-added portal for Weser-Elbe Sparkasse, which has been online since December 2019.

Giro X-tra is based on Shopware, as is the GiroPRIVILEG portal implemented by Sparkasse Lüneburg in 2017 and the Extendshop implemented by Baden-Württembergische Bank in 2018.

The customer loyalty portal offers Weser-Elbe Sparkasse customers a wide range of benefits, such as permanently discounted offers, exclusive events and the opportunity to book trips with a rebate of up to 6%.

In addition, around 100 renowned partner stores were integrated as part of the project via Online Shopping with Advantage. This means that every customer can save money when shopping and enjoy a rebate of up to 18%.

In addition to the usual responsive web application, a separate hybrid app based on GoNative was developed for Apple and Android as part of this project and made available in the respective app stores. The app is the central application for WESPA's customers.

Hybrid Mobile App & Augmented Reality

A digital, wallet-based customer card is available to customers on their smartphone, giving them access to all the benefits of their customer account at any time.

Via the app, users also have the option of using the appear2media-based augmented reality X-tra magazine scanner. Using the latest recognition technologies, users can scan the printed magazine to obtain additional multimedia information such as videos, images, links or calendar entries.
