Sitegeist.ZombieHunt

Visualize and remove zombie content

All goodbyes are hard ...

In many CMS systems, we observe that editors initially hide content that is no longer needed, but then don't think about actually deleting it later. This often leads to a considerable amount of outdated content accumulating over the years in intensively managed websites, about which no one can say whether it is still needed somewhere, sometime or somehow.

We at sitegeist have been calling this phenomenon zombie content for a while now. Our new Neos package Sitegeist.ZombieHunt now makes this classification visible to editors and helps them say goodbye to old content.

Instead of installing a heavyweight review process, we decided to accompany the whole thing with a bit of humor and add 🧟 icons to content that has been hidden for over a year.

Of course, we realize that a zombie icon is just as easy to ignore as any other content corpse. That's why our zombie content starts to burn after another year and then the rule is: burning zombies must be extinguished!

So that the constant zombie extinguishing is not a burden for anyone and we don't need a content fire department, our package naturally comes with the appropriate command, which is ideal for regular automatic execution.
